Our Story
Validity was created by Master of Engineering graduates from Duke University. As teaching assistants, they developed the first open and verifiable certificate for students who completed a CS course. This innovative approach led to numerous student requests for their academic credentials to be in the same format upon graduation.
We collaborated with the Office of the Registrar and developed technology to meet several key needs:
- Making academic discipline and degree information verifiable without additional human resources
- Providing a seamless and secure method for graduates to validate their information
- Offering graduates access and ownership of their credentials without financial or technological barriers from the University or any outside vendor
- Enabling graduates to share their credentials globally and instantly
Validity was born on the pillars of security, simplicity, and sovereignty.
